Your chance to help animals throughout the country

Filed under: information — catsarepeopletoo @ 3:59 pm

The Humane Society is asking for your help in getting a bill passed:

“This summer, language was approved in the U.S. House of Representatives’ Farm Bill to (1) prohibit the use in research of dogs and cats obtained from random source dealers (who may steal pets or fraudulently obtain them through “free to good home” ads) and (2) ban the use of live animals in sales demos of medical devices. In addition, we’re also pushing Congress to (3) end imports of very young puppies, who are often crammed into life-threatening cargo holds for long distance transport to the U.S. for the pet trade, when there are plenty of puppies already here who need homes. Now, we need to jump on this opportunity to ensure that these critical protections are included in the Senate’s Farm Bill as well!”

To phone and/or e-mail your senators, please visit this site.

A few homepage changes

Filed under: news, information — catsarepeopletoo @ 9:48 pm

Hello everyone! You’ll notice that our events calendar no longer appears on our home page. Instead, we will post current events here on our blog, which is much easier to update (and therefore can be kept more current — thanks Melody!)

I also updated our Amazon.com links, so that we now have our very own Amazon.com CAPT store! I’ve tailored it specifically for cat lovers (with a few dog-related things as well!), so if you’re looking for cat books, DVDs, even supplies, please check out the store. I think you’ll find it a bit more relevant to CAPT than the Amazon.com links have been in the past. And don’t forget CAPT receives a percentage of every purchase, at no additional cost to you! You can also “click-through” to Amazon from the CAPT store to search for anything they carry, and CAPT will benefit that way as well. Please remember the kitties the next time you shop online! And as always, thanks for your support.

Our 2008 CAPT calendars are now available at the CAPT shop:

These one-page calendars feature Snow and Teddy. They are $6.49, with all proceeds going directly to Cats Are People, Too! We are also working on a 12-month calendar, but we need your help! If you have any fantastic shots of your cats (no people in the photo, please) that are high-resolution, please send them to webmaster at catsarepeopletoo dot org (replacing the “at” and “dot” with the real things, and removing the spaces).
